The goal of this study is to determine the demographic, health psychology and socioeconomic traits associated with compliance to CRC screening guidelines.

Study Start:

expected June 2011

Study Location:

Gynecology and General Practices in Berlin

Study Scope:

approx. 500 patients

Study Director:

N.N.

A secondary goal of the study is to determine whether the availability of the Epi  proColon Septin9 test will increase the participation of those patients who refuse to comply with conventional screening methods such as colonoscopy.

Patient groups who might benefit from a blood-based tool for early detection of colorectal cancer will be identified.

In addition, the compliance with follow-up diagnostic colonoscopy in those patients with a positive stool or blood-based test will be evaluated.

Currently we are in discussion with a potential clinical director for the study.

The study is financed in collaboration with Abbott Molecular diagnostics.

Patients who are between 55 and 75 years old are eligible to participate in this study. They should not have any known inflammatory gastrointestinal diseases or any known family history of colorectal cancer.
